Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries in 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This device really impressed lots of clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, as the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into production with articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Because of the economic downturn during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Hence, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
The Bi-Energy and DC machinery offered by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work environments. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator with the benefits of a 48V DC machine.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machinery are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
